Bell Creek is a relatively pristine headwater of the San Juan watershed that flows through Starr Ranch Sanctuary. Starr Ranch is bordered on the west by a residential community of over 1,100 houses, extensive landscaping, and a golf course. All of the surface water run-off from this community is diverted and dumped into two other Starr Ranch streams: Dove and Tick Creeks. The uncontaminated section of Bell Creek upstream of this confluence is referred to as “Bell N”. The impacted section of Bell Creek downstream of this confluence is referred to as “Bell S”.
